In 1961, “Newsland Research Deparment“ conducted a survey ranking Farmacia Santa Lucia as the largest drugstore in El Salvador.

During the 60's, its increased volume of sales determines a change in the strategic orientation of the business. The change was to go from a drugstore to a Prescription drug distributor. Mr. Felix Cristiani in 1972 decided the company's name should be changed to Drogueria Santa Lucia S.A.de C.V. in order to embark on this new mission of the company.

In the 1970s, Droguería Santa Lucia had almost complete coverage of the Salvadorean market and positioned itself as the largest distributor of Prescription Drugs in the country.

In the 1990's Drogueria Santa Lucia continued to be the leader in the distribution of Prescription Drugs in El Salvador thanks to our experience in the market and well established relations we have built with our suppliers. In the middle of the decade we decided to grow as a business by offering a new array of products and responding to the increased demand of the commercial and consumer markets in El Salvador.

Farmacia Santa Lucia, located on the historic downtown of San Salvador and owned by Doctor Teodoro Thorgensen was bought by Juan Cristiani in 1931. Mr Cristiani, in a short period of time converted Farmacia Santa Lucia into the most important and most affluent drugstore in the capital.

During the Second World War, in 1943, Mr. Cristiani was killed in a bombing raid in Italy. For this reason Mr. Angel Celeste Cristiani Meardi, uncle of the deceased, took over the business. Mr. Felix Cristiani, assisted him in the administrative duties and helped enormously in the success of the operation.

After the death of Mr. Angel Celeste Meardi in 1946, Mr. Felix Cristiani and Mr. Alfredo Cristiani founded a new company called Meardi, Cristiani y Compaņia. The new company was the fusion of the two pharmacies: Santa Lucia and Meardi of San Miguel, and other commercial enterprises of the family. A fusion of this nature allowed Santa Lucia to consolidate its ideologies on a larger scale while still being backed up by its traditional image of confidence.

In 1953, Mr. Felix Cristiani bought Mr. Alfredo Cristiani share of the company, becoming the whole owner of Meardi, Cristiani y Compaņia. That year, he change the nameof the business to Cristiani y Compaņia.
